100 Happy Days

 100 Happy Days

Can you be happy for
100 days in a row?
We live in times when super-busy schedules have become something to boast about. While the speed of life increases, there is less and less time to enjoy the moment that you are in. The ability to appreciate the moment, the environment and yourself in it, is the base for the bridge towards long term happiness of any human being.
71% of people tried to complete this challenge, but failed quoting lack of time as the main reason.  These people simply did not have time to be happy. Do you?
How? Plain simple!
Every day submit a picture of what made you happy!
It can be anything from a meet-up with a friend to a very tasty cake in the nearby coffee place, from a feeling of being at home after a hard day to a favor you did to a stranger.
#100happyday challenge is for you - not for anyone
It is not a happiness competition or a showing off contest. If you try to please / make others jealous via your pictures - you lose without even starting. Same goes for cheating.
Share your picture via facebook, twitter or instagram with a public hashtag #100happydays;
  • Come up with your own hashtag to share your pictures with to limit publicity. (Don't forget to tell us how to find your pictures though ;) )
  • Simply send your pictures to myhappyday (at) to avoid any publicity.
People successfully completing the challenge claimed to:
     - Start noticing what makes them happy every day;
     - Be in a better mood every day;
     - Start receiving more compliments from other people;
     - Realize how lucky they are to have the life they have;
     - Become more optimistic;
     - Fall in love during the challenge.
Even when the challenge is over the collected 100 happy moments can always remind you about the beauty of your life. For that, you can receive a little 100 page book with your 100 happy days at the finish line of the challenge!
Good luck in the easiest, yet life changing challenge!
We see you at the finish line!
    Here it goes!
Day 1: Nursing a toddler (while having a motorcycle drive on your arm)

Day 2: Eating a burrito as big as my head while not spilling any on the sleeping toddler!

Day 3: Tiny cooks in the kitchen

Day 4: 5 hour play date with friends on a gorgeous day.

Day 5: A great view from the backyard deck. I love that Pelicans come to visit!

Day 6: Welcoming May in style

    Day 7: Smiling Border Collies!

    Day 8: Happy cabin people.

Day 9: Adventures in the woods
Day 10: A passion for cars.

Day 11: It is a bittersweet happy today. Clothes shopping in the juniors section. When did she grow up?

Day 12: Ducks talking on the fence.

    Day 13: Little computer geniuses.

Day 14: Many requests for breakfast...Toast with strawberry jam, popcorn and the rest of mom's smoothie.

Day 15: Attended The Mother's Day Miracle Milk Stroll today, hosted by the Utah Breastfeeding Coalition, to raise funds, educate, and raise appreciation for the life-saving power of human milk!

Day 16: Happy Mother's Day! Slept in, showered with gifts, took a nap and a big dinner with the family. So much love

Day 17: Enjoying a snack with this little connoisseur of fine cheese.

Day 18: Spending the morning at Forest School with great friends makes the whole day happy!

Day 19: 7 hour playdate with friends makes everyone happy!

Day 20: Rowan and I spent many long hours doing Kangaroo Care during and after our NICU stay. I can still remember how we would literally be suctioned to each other by the end. It is definitely the hug that heals! So happy that he is the super healthy guy he is today!
Day 21: The kickoff celebration of Josh's 21st Birthday!

Day 22: Birthday Cakes...This one is the "Purple Worm"...if you play D and D you will get the reference.

Day 23: He likes to hold the nails for Dad. Progress on the Pirate Ship!

Day 24: Unusual parks in Salt Lake City

Day 25: The beauty of just sitting in the forest, digging in the dirt and having the greatest conversation with a 2 year old. I love my life!

    Day 26: Brothers.

Day 27: Lunch at Whole Foods. I think he really likes Ramen Noodles! Willow ordered it, she didn't like it, so Rowan had a taste and went crazy...literally. We were laughing so hard as were all the people around us. He couldn't get the noodles in fast enough.

Day 28: Hiking! It makes me so happy to live in a beautiful state with so many hiking opportunities. I am happy that my little sidekick loves hiking too.

Day 29: Puddlejumper. Nothing better than rain boots and a fresh rain puddle for jumping!

Day 30: A sweet moment bringing back tons of memories...David made this castle for Josh when he was four. He spent many, many hours playing knights and dragons. Rowan is now enjoying it just as much as his big siblings did. He thought it was funny to make the dragon breathe fire on my people. How does he know these things?

Day 31: The Blue Heron is back! I was sitting on the deck watching David and Rowan work on the pirate ship and he flew over our fence to land in our yard. He saw David and quickly changed direction and flew up to the pole across the stream. Beautiful bird!

Day 33: I am so happy that I get to be this brave little man's mama. A fractured arm and still all smiles. He had the doctor fooled too. He thought it was just a sprain, but that is that preemie power for you! He is one tough little dude.

Day 34: This man. Today I get to celebrate his birthday and that makes me very happy! He is such a wonderful husband and father and I am so lucky to be his wife. So, Happy Happy Birthday to this awesome, talented, caring, creative, funny, nurturing, imaginative, dedicated man. I love you David and I hope your birthday is wonderful.
Day 35: Music Together! Rowan absolutely loves his music class. It has been a great year with our wonderful teacher and great friends. So many happy moments in our class.

Day 36: I have created a thrifting crazy girl! She has found a new love, Plato's Closet. An entire new to her wardrobe for under $60? I will take it! Such joy watching her spin around modeling her finds.

Day 37: This man amazes me. He is beyond talented. Watching him build this pirate ship has been really fun. I am amazed.

Day 38: Cutest woodworker ever! He works hard, broken arm and all.

Day 39: Today is one of those days where you look hard to find the happy. I was joking with David after he stepped on a huge piece of glass and blood was literally pouring out of his foot that we were cursed! David and I have had very little and very interrupted sleep over the last 24 hours. Poor little Rowan has had a fever and been vomiting since last night. All I can say is that I am so happy for toddler breastfeeding, skin to skin, peppermint oil and a husband who can stay home and take shifts with me. It is the little things in the raging storm that keep you going.

Day 40: A super cool cast cover for the tiniest cast I have ever seen. Again...searching for the little things. He got his hard cast on today and will only have to wear it for a month which is great news since I thought it was going to be much longer. However, will this stomach virus ever end???
Day 41: Feeling loved by all of those friends that have called to check on us, offered to bring food and help where they can and sent gifts for Rowan. We are so fortunate.
Day 42: Hanging out laundry. This laundry in particular. Our very well loved play silks are needed at a friends birthday party and so I washed them and hung them out to dry today. Once they were all hung it was like a fairy wonderland in ...there. Brought back fond memories of my childhood and my older kids building hideaways in the yard. Rowan is just getting into building forts and wearing capes so I am sure these will see another round of play.

Day 43: We left the house for the first time (other than going to the doctor to get the cast) We are still unwell so we just went for a walk around the park but it felt great to get out of the house and be in the sun.

Day 44: It's coming along. Should be finished this week!! He is The King of the World...or at least pirate ship building.
Day 45: Working together. The slide is here and in order for it to go up the ground needs a bit of leveling. Willow and Rowan got straight to work. I think they are just a little excited.
Day 46: A little bit of love all the way from Memphis. My dear friend Diane knit these cast covers up for Rowan and the little gnome. They fit perfectly and Rowan really likes them! Thank you so much Diane! Feeling very loved.
Day 47: Today was one of those days where timing was just right. We had an 11 o'clock dentist appointment 30 min North, then a 12:30 orthodontist appointment 5 min from the house, then a swimming pool play date drop off 20 min from there, and a 2 o'clock dentist appointment 10 min from the pool. Everything flowed easily and went well. No rushing. I like those kind of days!
Day 48: Rowan wanted to go out in the dark tonight and as soon as we got outside he looked up and yelled "shapes!" He saw the clouds and started telling me all the "shapes" he saw. "ephant" "firetruck" "shark" name a few. We made our way over to the pirate ship and watched the sky for a while. We saw the stars, the HUGE moon and lot's of planes. It is a good life.
Day 49: These two. Pure joy!
Day 50: Halfway through the project! Today was a fun day of Dragons and Chalk Art. How to Train Your Dragon 2 was great and the chalk art festival is always fun!
Day 51: Two years ago today I welcomed the tiniest person I had ever seen into the world! He was just 3 lbs but super strong. Can't believe it has been 2 years! So happy to be celebrating with our sweet little super hero today. His requests was to "see the sharks" so we are off to the aquarium.
Day 52: Hiking with the cutest little people ever!
Day 53: Josh helped me get ready for Rowan's Pirate themed birthday party. He made this serpent head for a "Sea Serpent Crawl". Rowan loves it.
Day 54: Someone got their cast off...2 weeks early! He still has a splint for the next couple of weeks but we can take it off for bathing, swimming and water play! Plus, 2 "pollylops" from the x-ray technician make everything right in the world.
Day 55: Rowan helped me paint a "bean bag toss shark" today for his Pirate Party. (his is the dark and luminous side ) I am really happy that his cast is off an he can have a bath because he also decided that he needed to paint blue pants and blue lipstick on himself!
Day 56: Extreme happiness going on over here. The ship is finished! Just in time for Rowan's pirate birthday party extravaganza! David A. Read you seriously amaze me with your skill. Willow and Rowan have been happily playing all day, swinging and eating popsicles. What a fabulous way to welcome summer! Now to move the boulders
Day 57: Celebrating turning 2 with great friends. Couldn't ask for more!
Day 58: Great night at the Chick Fil A Family and Friends Swim Party!
Day 59: Great hike this morning!

Day 60: Nothing better than a summer evening, laying on the trampoline, being bounced around by this guy!

Day 61: True happiness is the love between a boy and his dog

Day 62: Curled up on the couch with my little one reading stories and listening to the summer rain and thunder.

Day 63: Splash pad fun with great friends!

Day 64: Seeing a movie with a great friend and then standing in the parking lot afterwards talking for 4 hours! Oh the stories and the laughter.

Day 65: Relaxing in the backyard having "ice cream cones" made for me.

Day 66: Today had too many happy moments to count but it started off hiking with my sweet man and wonderful friends and then spending the afternoon catching up with a dear friend.

    Day 67: Being an eagle.

Day 68: Josh getting to meet two of his childhood icons...John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) and Sean Astin (Sam) from Lord of the Rings. He is dressed as the chick fil a cow helping out at a charity event at Fantasycon and will be fighting in a sword battle later on tonight. I really hope there is a video!

Day 69: Celebrating the 4th ( a day early) with great friends and family!

Day 70: Happy 4th of July hike to Stewart Falls.

Day 71: Hot, hot day = water play complete with a foot massage!

Day 72: Getting ready for camping with friends at Bear Lake.

Day 73: Because we should all make pine needle hats!

Day 74: Their laughter is contagious!

Day 75: A long chat with my best friend. Even though we have not lived in the same state in 15 years, when we talk on the phone it is like no time has passed!

Day 76: Our chiropractor has the magic touch! She can even adjust you while you sleep.

Day 77: I asked him where his turtle was and he quickly found him, grabbed him close and said "special" He sure loves his turtle!

    Day 78: Nature therapy.

    Day 79: Minecraft with Willow.

Day 80: Good news from the vet...Juniper is just getting old and has arthritis. Not all the horrible things I was thinking she might have Pain meds and glucosamine in addition to her daily fish oil for now.

Day 81: Strawberry ice cream with his brother after a hot morning at the park with friends.

Day 82: Super fun play date with cousins!

Day 83: Back to the Layton splash pad with our homeschool coop for some water fun in the hot sun!

Day 84: Hike to Rocky Mouth Falls

    Day 85: Slide the City!

Day 86: Hiking Cataract Gorge with great friends!

Day 87: Hiking Lake Mary on such a beautiful day!

Day 88: A daily occurrence...happy kid and happy dogs!

    Day 89: Sour pickle face.

Day 90: It is the little things that make you happy. In Rowan's case, going through the car wash...and in mine, the fact that I captured a creepy picture.

Day 91: Fishing at Silver Lake .

    Day 92: "Polly Lop".

Day 93: Celebrating our 24th anniversary by hiking to Cecret Lake and recreating the picture taken on our 1st anniversary (or at least trying to ) It's been a wonderful 24 years being married to my best friend and soulmate. I love you David
Day 94: The frozen crew of operation "Day at Jordanelle" in good spirits even after our plans were thwarted by the freezing rain and insane wind. Rowan did get to ride on the "watercycles" for the first time, (motorcycles for the water... aka wave runners) before the big storm hit. Gotta love summer in the mountains!
Day 95: One minute he was outside splashing in the summer rain, the next I looked over and he was fast asleep. Playing in the rain is hard work!
Day 96: Good news from the dentist! Rowan's teeth are remineralizing! Yay! And of course any day that begins by sitting on a giant tooth is a good one.
Day 97: Lunch with a good friend. Life is sweet.

Day 98: Thrift store shopping spree, frozen strawberry lemonade and spray paint! Summer is getting creative over here

Day 99: An awesome day at Jordanelle. Complete with this little guy who fell asleep on the waverunner!

Day 100: YAY!!! I finished the project.  A peaceful morning on a quiet lake visited by this beautiful dragonfly.
