Fall Nature Table

Willow and I were sooo sick last Thursday when our homeschool coop met and created puff ball people and nature creatures...so we created them today on our own.  I love the Totoro acorns!
Willow also braided this raffia wreath for the nature table...
Gnomes, root children, pinecone people and Totoro's having fun in the forest :)
It is a magical time of year...

A Productive Couple of Days

Yesterday, Willow started to learn sewing on the machine while following a pattern. She has big plans for a complete new wardrobe for her American Girl Dolls.
It was fun to see her visualize the finished project and see how doing "x" creates "y" and then in the end you have a dress!
(Mom helped a little...probably not the best 1st project to start with!)
 Fabulous!
Next on the list, a bath robe and sleeping mask...

Then today I worked in the kitchen... I turned 10 lbs of peaches into 5 quarts of "soon to be" smoothie and or pie/crumble filling...with the faithful help of my sidekick Rowan, who ate more than I put away!
Then I made a big batch of gluten free tortillas...we seem to eat a lot of these around here....Seriously, these are delicious!
A bunch of frozen gluten free pizza crusts for dinner/lunch in a pinch...

Now I am tired...the rain and the cold got to me today, moving slow and dreading the bitter cold of winter that is on its way. Plus, man am I sore from yoga yesterday!  I didn't think I was getting much of a workout with Rowan but my abs and hips are in agony today!  Willow is sore also from her yoga class, so between the both of us we look like little 80 yr old women hobbling around!

Another great couple of days being an unschooler...

Farewell Bawk Bawk Lady

It's a sad day around here.  We lost a "Bawk Bawk Lady" last night.  Oompa Loompa has moved on to chicken heaven and left a very sad, sad little girl behind.
These are old pictures, but the only ones I could find of her alone.

You will be missed Oompa Loompa!

A New "Pet"

We have a new member of the family...a baby Venus Flytrap arrived today in the mail...It looks a little rough but hopefully in a few days it will be happy in it's new home.  It's little "traps" have started to open!
Willow could not be more excited...

Apples and Peaches

Apple and peach picking kind of day...

He wanted to pick one too...

 He was so proud :)

 She found the perfect one...

A little bit of play time...but not without his apple!

 So yummy!

 Now to get to work...

Welcome Fall!

After a wonderful morning at church listening to Dr. Nalini Nadkarini talk about Trees and Spirituality, from her book “Between Earth and Sky: Trees, Forests, and Spirituality” we welcomed Fall with a few projects...
 Making a dream pillow...

 Drying some apples...

 And snacking!

 Baking some apple crisp....

A wonderful life it is....
