Just A Couple of Ordinary Days of Unschooling

A friend came for a visit....

Rowan thought he was an amazing friend...

Looking up Katydids, learning about them, really hoping one day to see a pink one! Then talking all about the cicadas we were among this summer. Ahh insects...so interesting.

The ladies were out free ranging and so we put them away when the friend was ready to go home...otherwise he would have been obliterated!
Fall is nearing, time to bring a little inside... Printing leaves from the neighborhood...
Listening to One Direction and painting away.
This girl cracks me up...such joy :)
 Our beautiful creations....

Then it was on to Antigravity Yoga, which she loves with all her heart, probably just as much as her voice lessons...
In between there was Sims, scootering around the neighborhood many, many times, hanging upside down on the gymnastics bar in the backyard, trampoline bouncing, chasing chickens and rats, eating yummy food, a chapter or two of Ivy and Bean that lead to a discussion on Salem Witch Trails...and also The Secret Garden which led to looking up and discussing Cholera and vaccines, Life of Fred, our own version of Boggle and Family Math combined, collecting plants and containers for Terrarium building this week at co-op, sculpty clay, chores....connection.

I honestly have no idea how someone like Willow sits in a classroom all day? She is constantly jumping up from a sitting activity to ride her scooter, bounce on the trampoline, hang upside down...it would be tragic really if she could not do so . I am so glad she can be happy and free to choose her day...

It's so great to be an unschooler...

Yes. Yes to childhood, yes to curiosity, yes to moving, yes to laughter, yes to an inquisitive mind.

I'm not quite resigned to Autumn, yet, though we're heading up to a favorite spot today, to look for woolly bear caterpillars. :)
