Family Baby Shower for Rowan

Last Saturday, David's sweet Aunt Susan threw a family baby shower for Rowan. Thank you so much to everyone that came and celebrated our little miracle!

Sitting with Grandma...

Rowan loved Aunt Diane :) He had a lot of stories to tell her...

Becca came along with me and held Rowan while I opened all of his wonderful gifts.

Susan, David's very talented sister, made me this beautiful quilt...Rowan loves it!

I swear he was watching and looking at everything I opened like he knew it was all for him  lol
Thanks Grandma for the Bumbo seat!
 Everyone needs diapers :)
Rowan got a new wardrobe and just in time as he is starting to outgrow everything, a beautiful quilt, bath soaps, washclothes, toys, bibs, burp cloths, a bumbo seat, diapers and wipes tons of books...
Susan made a delicious lunch of chicken enchiladas, salad and rolls and Grandma made a cake...a delicious cake called "Better Than Sex Cake"...you will have to decide that for yourself ;)

It was a fun afternoon and Rowan loves all of his gifts! We are so blessed.

Thank you all!

Breaking Dawn Part 2

Willow has been DYING to see the final movie in the Twilight Saga and today was the day.  David, Rowan, Willow and I headed to a surprisingly empty theater to finish off the series. We thought it was good. Willow was a little sad to see it end. She wants to read the books now...but not until we have finished the Narnia series and The Hobbit (now, the whole family is excited about The Hobbit!)  Rowan is going to be addicted to movies, or at least computer/tv screens I think...it is inevitable in our house with all the gaming going on... He slept through the movie today and even fell back to sleep at lunch. She is in love with her little brother :)

Blanket Baby

Oh how he loves his blankie...

It's the simple things in life...

New Haircut

Willow decided it was time to cut her long flowing...er..tangled locks. Where did my baby go? She looks so grown up! I should have taken a before and after but here is a side view from a little while ago. They chopped a ton of hair off. Rowan is sure going to miss that hair.

Now she wants a new wardrobe...guess we are going shopping this weekend :)

5 Months

 I'm how old?

Mr. Rowan is 5 months actual, 2 1/2 months adjusted, 12 lbs 1 oz, 23 inches long of pure joy!
Rowan loves his hands. I keep wondering if he is going to get a thumb in there and be a thumb sucker. He also loves his blankets.  He is my first baby to really just love a blanket.  He likes to have it touching his face while he is nursing. He loves to sit, supported of course, and will hold on to our hands while laying down and pull himself up to sitting and sometimes even standing. He has discovered toys and loves to be shown things, especially musical things. He has an infatuation with the band Guster...maybe because I listened to them a lot suring my pregnancy? He can be restless and fussy and all I have to do is turn on some Guster and he is happy as a clam  I have tried it with other music/bands and it doesn't work. He has really starting talking a lot lately.  His new words are  "I-goo", "gee", "nah" and I swear sometimes (and my friend Katrina hears it too) he says "mama" :)
He is such a sweet, sweet baby.  He has his first cold right now...could be the notorius RSV that they scare the crap out of you in the NICU as it fits all the symptoms and has spread like mad from one family to another to ours. But, we have our ways of dealing with things like this and it works wonders.  Lots of essential oils, chiropractor, breastfeeding and fresh air and sunlight...although the inversion in the air is not helping too much.
It seems like his is growing up so fast....

Little Man's Checkup

We took Rowan to the pediatrician last Thursday...Based on his actual age for the growth charts he is at the 25th percentile for head and just on the curve for length and weight. Based on his adjusted age he is 39th for weight, 87th for length and 97th for head.  In other words he is doing great according to who ever designed a chart for all people to grow by...

Love this little man so much!

Frog and Toad

Last night, Willow's Broadway Kids class had their recital and performed 2 songs from Frog and Toad.  She LOVES her classes and was excited to show us what she had been working on.
Wolfie and Eli are such great friends and came along to support her.  Truly, they were amazingly patient since several little kid classes performed before Willow and well...we will just say it was a lot to sit through ;)
Willow's teacher Penny

Rowan loved it! We even met a little girl named Lily that was just 2 days older than Rowan.  It was fun to see that while he is a wee one he is doing all the same things that she was doing.  And, he weighs more than she did at 2 months, which is his adjusted age so hey, I will take that as we are doing well...although I already knew that ;)

The Three Muskateers :)
Then it was off to Sonic for some milkshakes and then home for hours on the trampoline, watching Family Guy and playing xbox with Josh :)

Here are her performances...my blog layout chops off half the video so go to you tube to watch :)

The Leonardo and Da vinci The Genius Exhibit

Yesterday we went with our Homeschool friends to The Leonardo and to The Da vinci The Genius exhibit.  It was fun to go on a field trip with the whole family (minus Aspen of course).  We have not done that in forever! Da vinci was a pretty amazing man. And, according to Josh, an unschooler since he learned everything through observation.

Willow and I got memberships.  They give educators a free membership or you can take $45 off any of their other membership options.  So we opted for the membership for 2 and we get to go the whole year for $20! We are excited about that.
Josh and David playing with Art Craze on the very cool touch screen monitors
Now there is a new "need" in the family...touch screen monitors...
