Halo Reach

So, Josh and his friend Justin have been pining away for Halo Reach to be released and the day finally came. My dear, wonderful, amazing friend Kathy, took them last night at midnight and stood in line for over an hour to get their copies. Josh was up till 5 am...Justin stayed up all night...We won't see them for a while...

Utah State Fair 2010

Yesterday, Willow, Beach and I met up with a huge group of homeschoolers for the State Fair. We had a great day...7 hours, of animals, rides, crappy food and sunburns :)
Now they want pigeons....
And bunnies...
ok..I want the goat :)
The cows were huge...I think you forget what a huge animal they are until you are right next to them...
Sheep shearing was cool. Willow go t a little piece of wool to take home and of course my Border Collies went wild. We had used wool felt and wool stuffing making their dogs last week and we talked about where it came from. They thought that was cool...
Finally, the rides opened and it was time for some fun...
The girls were too short to ride this so one of the guys working the ride rode with them. I was walking over to a bench to sit and turned around to see this guy in there with them...freaked the hell out of me at first! They didn't care...they had fun.
Cherry slushes and magic shows...
Back to the animals again...we love the goats!!
This is the weirdest pigeon...
Baby pigs are so cute, but man do they smell!

Nothing says the fair like a cotton candy the size of your upper body LOL
'Till next year....

Avenues Street Fair

Today we dropped Mara off at her friends for a sleepover, and then David, Willow and I headed up to the Avenues for their annual street Fair. It was a gorgeous day!

Pastafarianism?

So, last night we were invited to a Pastafarian Party at our friends home. You may ask"what the heck is a Pastafarin" ? Ya, so did I :) Well, you eat pasta, dress like a pirate, and worship the flying spaghetti monster LOL

Needless to say, our wild Pastafarian crashed early. It is hard work being a pasta eating pirate!
hey, you learn something new every day.....

Poor Mrs. Quack

Tuesday night, Willow and I were driving down 500 E to take Josh and Justin back to their "bachelor Pad" when we saw a female Mallard sitting on the side doing the splits. Now, we live right on Millcreek so their are always duck and geese in the roads so I didn't think much of it except her legs looked funny. Well, she was still there on the way back so we pulled over to check on her. Sure enough he leg was broken. So, I called David and he brought me a box and some gloves and we took her back to our house. We put her on the deck in the box and gave her some water. I figured she would fly away if she was not terribly hurt but the next day she was still there. I called around and got The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah to take her. That after noon Willow and I drove her up to Ogden and handed her over. They confirmed that her leg was broken and she most likely had a hip fracture. It will take several months for her to heal but in most cases you will never know they had been hurt. We hope Mrs. Quack is back in the wild soon!
