Granny's visit

My Mom came out to visit us for week. We had such a great time!

We went to Lagoon and had a blast as usual. Willow is our daredevil and was so happy that she was finally tall enough to ride the big rides. She rode Colossus like 3 times!

  • She got her on a Tuesday night really late and on Wednesday is Josh's regular D and D club so instead of me bringing my laptop and playing WOW with Kathy like I usually do, we played Shanghai. She ended up getting so good at the game that by the end of the week she was wiping us out!
  • We also shopped and shopped. My kids now have wardrobes to last them a lifetime :) Thanks Mom!!!

Picnic with Granny in Mill creek Canyon

Granny's last night we went up to Mill Creek Canyon for a picnic. We took some family pictures....we tried to get the dogs to be in it but they were like " hey, we are in the mountains...why aren't we hiking??"

3rd of July 2009

Fun times had by all... Hope you all had a great 4th of July!

Mara and Sarah entertained us....

Great conversations.......

pool time.........

Great food.....

Willow and her buddy Beach having some Costco chocolate cake and ice cream

watching the fireworks from the roof....

New kitchen Floor

We have a new kitchen floor! I can't believe I left this out of the catch up post :) We had to replace the laminate flooring twice in the kitchen from water damage and that was enough...tile it is!

here is the process....David did such a great job!!!
We had to rip up the vinyl flooring and that was real fun.... Actually, funny story...Josh offered to do it cause you know anything that involves a crowbar and destruction is a dream for a 16yr old boy...but anyway, he was ripping up the floor, David and I were out back helping Mara with the garden and Willow came downstairs...she said "what the heck are you doing???" Josh told her he was ripping up the floor...she asked "do you have permission to do that" and Josh being Josh told her no. She lectured him about how much trouble he was going to be in when David and I found out and he just kept on working. She was so ready to see the wrath come down when we came in that you could see the look of disappointment when she found out we actually wanted him to do it :) Ahh, gotta love big brothers....
next came the boards that the tiles actually sit on. I can't remember what they are called. He had to put down a layer of cement, then the boards, then screw them down...
Then it was time to lay the tile.....

Then the grout and wipe away the excess....that is a lot of work!
I totally LOVE it! The appliances were moved in about 2 hours before our big 3rd of July celebration. He still has to seal it and put the baseboards and floor reducer between the laminate and tile...looks like tomorrow is a good day ;)
