Great Friends,Great Food and Great Entertainment!

Last night was opening night for Mara in Cinderella! She had to be at the theater by 4pm to get her makeup and costume on and to run through the play.

Around 5:30ish our dear friends, Kathy and Justin, Melissia and Ari and Alyssa and Ainsely came over for a Mexican potluck dinner. I made chicken and cottage cheese enchiladas and Enchiladas Calabaza (squash enchiladas), Kathy brought homemade guacamole, peach salsa, queso and chips, Alyssa brought Horchata, a delicious Mexican beverage, and Melissia brought a beautiful Tres Leche cake that she got from a Mexican Bakery near her house. We had a fabulous meal with great food and great conversation. Then it was time to head over to the theater. We walked over since it is about a block from out house.

Mara was the doorman, checking tickets :)

The play was wonderful! They all did such a great job. Mara nailed her lines and seemed completely at home on the stage :) The costumes were beautiful and the makeup was incredible, especially on the mice and rat. Mara is taking her camera tonight to get pictures of everyone. 12 more performances to go :)

Project Wild Utah: A Whale of a Project!

Yesterday was our last Project Wild meeting for the summer. We learned to graph a small whale into a larger whale and then to a life sized whale. Our focus was the Humpback Whale and we drew a 50 foot one on the tennis courts at Tanner Park :)

Working on enlarging a whale drawing from a small sheet of graph paper to a large sheet....

While the group was working on enlarging a whale drawing, David, Josh and Kathy were working hard drawing a 50 foot grid.....

Josh gave a great report on Whale Migration.....

Mara gave a great report on the Tubercles located on the head of The Humpback Whale...

Aidan gave a great report on how much The Humpback Whales typically weigh....

Nicolas and Julia gave a great report on The Humpback Whales History in whaling......

Ainsley gave a great report on the current status of Humpback Whales....

Damek gave a great report on how and what Humpback Whales eat....

Justin gave a great report on how Humpback Whales care for their young....

Then it was time for everyone to head over to the 50 foot grid. Everyone had a section of the whale to fill in to create our life sized version....

When it was finished, we headed up the hill for a birdseye view.....

Then we tried to fit around it.....

Time to clean up and finish off Mara's birthday cupcakes :)
