Project Wild Utah: A Whale of a Project!

Yesterday was our last Project Wild meeting for the summer. We learned to graph a small whale into a larger whale and then to a life sized whale. Our focus was the Humpback Whale and we drew a 50 foot one on the tennis courts at Tanner Park :)

Working on enlarging a whale drawing from a small sheet of graph paper to a large sheet....

While the group was working on enlarging a whale drawing, David, Josh and Kathy were working hard drawing a 50 foot grid.....

Josh gave a great report on Whale Migration.....

Mara gave a great report on the Tubercles located on the head of The Humpback Whale...

Aidan gave a great report on how much The Humpback Whales typically weigh....

Nicolas and Julia gave a great report on The Humpback Whales History in whaling......

Ainsley gave a great report on the current status of Humpback Whales....

Damek gave a great report on how and what Humpback Whales eat....

Justin gave a great report on how Humpback Whales care for their young....

Then it was time for everyone to head over to the 50 foot grid. Everyone had a section of the whale to fill in to create our life sized version....

When it was finished, we headed up the hill for a birdseye view.....

Then we tried to fit around it.....

Time to clean up and finish off Mara's birthday cupcakes :)
