Mirror Lake

We had a wonderful camping trip this weekend. We can't believe that this beautiful place has only been 2 hours from our house for the past 5 years and we have not taken advantage of it till now.

I think we have a new favorite getaway!

On our way to Mirror Lake we saw this Mom and Baby Moose in Lilly Lake. Aren't they beautiful!

Finished setting up camp, ready to go fishing!

Taking the boat out...Thank you so much Neidermeyer family for letting us borrow your boat!

Mara fishing.......

A guy fishing next to Josh gave him this albino. He was a catch and release fisher and the way this fish was caught on the hook killed him so he asked Josh if he would like to have it. We did not eat this one....I will spare you the vile details of why......

This little nest was right by our camp site. It was on the ground next to a rock. Maggie scared the mother bird away and we saw the eggs!

Maggie could fetch all day and night! And she LOVES the water!

'

Drying off from their swim in the lake....

Ahhh, there is the love of my life ;)

Josh sharpening the hatchet for chopping wood.....

Yum!

Dinner around the fire........

After dinner we walked over to an Astronomy show done by a local astronomy teacher. It was pretty cool, we got to look through the giant telescope and see Jupiter and her moons and the 2nd star in the handle of the big dipper which is actually 3 stars. It was so beautiful!

Then it was back to camp for smores......and then off to bed!

Willow is such a great help cleaning up!

After breakfast David and Willow went for a little hike....

And I took Mara out on the boat....for those of you that don't know....that is a HUGE feat! Mara hates boats...canoes, paddle boats, rafts...she is fine on larger boats but she has had a major fear of little boats for as long as I can remember....when we were leaving today she told me she loved the boat and could not wait to do it again. Yeah Mara! :) (Daddy says you are getting ready for that white water rafting trip he wants to take soon ;) )

Josh caught a fish! A rainbow trout :)

Willow playing in the meadow by the lake.....

Back at camp for a "nap" ;)

Willow and David found this overlook just down from our camping spot. After their"nap" we walked over to check it out together.....

Then we went back to the lake to get Josh and Mara to have lunch and we ran into our dear friends Melissia, Arianna and Mina! We hiked around the lake together and then we watched Josh finish the "gutting" of his fish ...

Then it was back to camp for some lunch and more Shanghi, a really fun card game that Kathy Reid taught us...

Then it was off to explore the meadow at the bottom of the overlook....t was so incredible!!!

We had the place to ourselves for at least 2 hours.....

Ahhh...Maggie and Junie found some poo to roll in....

Willow slipped and fell and well...for those of you that know my daughter, even a drop of water warrents a complete outfit change so that means being nude when your in a meadow far from clothes :)

Josh and Mara decided to forgo the poles and just fish with their bare hands :)

A Bonneville Cut throat Trout. They are endangered so of course we let this guy go.....

A rainbow trout.......

The little black worm looking thing is a leech..

It was such a beautiful meadow!

Bald Mountain

Cool aquatic plants..........

That night we a ymmy dinner of chicken and corn on the cob cooked in foil in the coals......Josh also cooked his fish and ate a bit of it :)

After dinner it was time for games!
After games it was time for bed....Josh and David slept outside on our cots under the stars...that is after the booted Maggie off the cot :)

Josh in his mummy bag....

Mara and Willow "relaxing" in the boat :)

Hiking down to the Provo River Falls.......

Looks like you guys had loads of fun! We still haven't made it up to the Uintah's this summer, hopefully soon. Although I'm not hoping Lee's work slows down any, I'm really not:)
