I got this great science book from the library, Flash! Bang! Pop! Fizz! Exciting Science for Curious minds by Janet Chahrour. Yesterday, the kids and I pulled it out and had some fun. It was really interesting. We did experiments that showed the reaction of oxygen and carbon dioxide on a flame, made "bombs" from old film canisters and alka seltzer tabs and then the kids messed around with what if scenarios. What was really interesting was the entire time we were working on the experiments, a crew was here replacing the hot water heater and once they were done, they explained to us that part of the new code for water heaters is that they have a separate tank for the steam to flow into when the main tank is full. It was so great that it related so perfectly to what we had just been doing.

For about a month now, Willow has been asking a lot of questions about golf. We drive by the golf course a lot and every time she asks different things like;
Can girls play golf?
Why do they have bags?
how do they get the ball out of the hole?
will I have to be tall to do it?
I would just love to play that someday
can my Build A Bear play golf too?
So, I told her we would go and play golf one night. David, Josh and I went to Golf in The Round and played miniature golf. She loved it! She wanted to get her feet and hands just right each time and she really wanted a hole in one! She asked a lot of questions about why they call the grass the green, why it is called a club, why the golf balls on the big course were white and ours were different colors( she had to have the pink ball of course!;)). She also noticed that each green was numbered and wondered why. When we left she said, "Mommy, that golfing is really fun!"

Today we went to our friends, Julie, Lee, Damek and Kyan's home for a Solstice party that Julie and Aubrey put together. It was so much fun! Great friends, great food, and water! There was a huge water fight with water guns, balloons, buckets and hoses! I think Josh kind of got it going with his water balloon to Chris's back ;) It was too hot to care. David and Josh were heading off to see 300 in the theater so we had to leave before the circle. But, the girls and I made flower head wreaths before we went and sang songs about the sun and the gifts it brings. Happy Summer Solstice everyone, and thanks so much Julie and Aubrey for a great party!!
